The West Virginia State Police is excited to partner for the third consecutive year with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern West Virginia to hold the McTrooper 5K Walk/Run. The event is scheduled for Saturday October 10th, at 9 AM in front of the Frontier Communications Building in Charleston.
This year’s event is particularly exciting as the Charleston Ronald McDonald House recently announced construction of a new, larger facility. Dewayne Dickens, Executive Director goes on to say, “The West Virginia State Police, along with our presenting sponsor, Preston & Salango have been valuable partners in allowing our organization to begin construction of our new home. We’re proud that all of the proceeds from this year’s event will directly benefit this project and benefit West Virginia families for decades to come.”
Additional sponsorship support for this year’s McTrooper 5K Walk/Run is Provided by Smith Company Motor Cars, The Law firm of Mannion, Gray, Uhl & Hill Co., L.P.A., The Trooper Eric Workman Foundation, Frontier Communications, McDonald’s and Charleston Area Medical Center. Additional registration information, along with course info may be found at CharlestonRMHC.org. All participants in this year’s event will receive an event shirt.
For nearly 30 years, Ronald McDonald House has provided a warm and welcoming home to the families of children receiving medical treatment in our community. To be near their children, parents and families must often endure lengthy commutes to a strange city, sleep in hospital waiting rooms, or bear the expense of an impersonal hotel room. The Ronald McDonald House offers a temporary home that can relieve the stress, financial hardship and loneliness that is often added to the trauma of illness.
