The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection’s Water Quality Standards (WQS) Program Quarterly Meeting will be on Tuesday, Nov. 17, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The public meeting will be held at DEP headquarters in Charleston at 601 57th Street SE.
During the meeting, DEP staff will be reviewing public comments regarding suggested revisions to West Virginia’s WQS rule (47CSR2). These comments are now available on DEP’s WQS web page here: http://www.dep.wv.gov/WWE/Programs/wqs/Pages/TriennialReviewWQS.aspx. DEP will also discuss the Triennial Review process, which will involve submission of a revised WQS rule in 2016 for consideration in the 2017 legislative session. In addition, DEP will review how this process has changed due to the recently revised federal regulation (40CFR§131).
DEP invites members of the public to present scientific information related to WQS revisions during a portion of the meeting. Presentation time may be limited in order to conclude the meeting within the allotted timeframe, and DEP asks that any presentation materials or literature reviews be made available digitally rather than on paper.
