Mountaineer Food Bank Partners with Clay County Schools to Provide Meals to Children During the Summer

Mountaineer Food Bank announces its sponsorship of the federally funded Summer Food Service Program. Multiple-day Parent Pick-Up Lunches are open to all children, ages 18 years and under, who would like to participate. During the weeks of summer school, parents have the option to have meals sent home with their child on the bus or pick up meals at both locations.

Meals will be served at the following sites on select dates and times: Clay High School and Clay Elementary Meals will be provided on the following dates:

–Monday, June 9: 7 days of lunches will be provided. Meals can be picked up at Clay High School from 1 to 3 p.m. only. This is a Pick up ONLY day.

–Monday, June 16: 7 days of lunches will be provided. Meals can be picked up at Clay High School from 1 to 3 p.m. only. This is also a Pick up ONLY day.

–Thursday, June 26: Meals for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday lunches will be distributed. At Clay Elementary, meals will be sent home on the bus or available for pick up from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. At Clay High School, meals will be sent home on the bus ONLY from 1 to 3 p.m.

–Thursday, July 3: Friday through Sunday lunches will be provided. At Clay Elementary, distribution is from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., either sent home on the bus or available for pick up. At Clay High School, meals are sent home on the bus ONLY from 1 to 3 p.m.

–Thursday, July 10: Friday through Sunday lunches will be available. Clay Elementary distribution will take place between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., either sent home on the bus or available for pick up. Clay High School will send meals home on the bus ONLY from 1 to 3 p.m.

–Thursday, July 17: Friday through Sunday lunches will be provided. At Clay Elementary, meals will be sent home on the bus or available for pick up from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. At Clay High School, meals will be sent home on the bus ONLY from 1 to 3 p.m.

–Thursday, July 24: Meals for Friday through Sunday lunches will be distributed. At Clay Elementary, meals will be sent home on the bus or available for pick up from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. At Clay High School, meals will be sent home on the bus ONLY from 1 to 3 p.m.

–Thursday, July 31: Friday through Sunday lunches will be provided. At Clay Elementary, meals will be sent home on the bus or available for pick up from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. At Clay High School, meals will be sent home on the bus ONLY from 1 to 3 p.m.

A nutritious meal is important for children to learn, play and remain active during the summer months. Remember, Hunger Doesn’t Take a Summer Vacation! For more information about the Summer Food Service Program, please call Mountaineer Food Bank at 304-364-5518.
