Volunteer West Virginia is now accepting applications for Day to Serve Mini-Grants. Non-profit organizations that wish to host a Day to Serve service project may be eligible for up to $500.
Day to Serve gives all West Virginian’s an opportunity to take simple steps to help others. The event began in 2012 as a collaboration between the Governors of West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, and the Mayor of Washington DC. The initiative invites all citizens, faith groups, businesses and community organizations to join the cause. Community members and local organizations are encouraged to meet the needs of people in their own backyards.
“Participating in a project during Day to Serve is a great way for families, young professionals, students and business leaders to make a difference,” said Heather Foster, Executive Director of Volunteer West Virginia. “While Day to Serve volunteers clean up neighborhoods and collect food, more importantly, they build bridges in neighborhoods, among strangers, and between groups who had no previous association with each other. Day to Serve connects and mobilizes communities.”
