Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and First Lady Joanne Jaeger Tomblin have invited all West Virginians to honor our firemen, police officers and emergency medical service workers by contributing photos for the “First Responders Recognition” tree.  Those wishing to participate are asked to send in photos of their loved ones or friends who have served or are serving as a first responder for our state.  The photos will be displayed on the “First Responder Recognition” tree which will be located in the Governor’s Reception Room of the State Capitol Building during the holiday season.
“Whether serving our communities or our entire state, our first responders answer the call to duty time and again, continually ensuring our safety, security and well-being.  I am grateful for the selfless service of our police officers, firemen and emergency medical service workers, and I am proud of all that they represent,” Gov. Tomblin said.  “Last year, hundreds of families from across the Mountain State submitted photos for the ‘Military Recognition’ tree.  I am confident this year’s ‘First Responders Recognition’ tree will be as successful – providing us an opportunity to showcase our gratitude to the first responders who, like our military, always put their fellow man first.”
With so many West Virginians serving as first responders in our cities and communities, it is important for us to keep in mind the families whose loved ones are constantly put in peril for the sake of their professions and the well-being of their fellow citizens,” First Lady Tomblin said. “I believe this year’s ‘First Responders Recognition’ tree will not only show our support for these families, it will honor those who have served and continue to serve the Mountain State.”
All photos, along with the form and tag below, must be received by Wednesday, November 27, 2013.  The form and tag can also be downloaded by visiting www.governor.wv.gov or www.firstlady.wv.gov and clicking on the Governor and First Lady’s Military Recognition Tree icon.  Please note, photos will not be returned.
