Governor’s Mansion and West Virginia State Capitol tours now available to be booked online

Governor Patrick Morrisey and First Lady Denise Morrisey have opened the Governor’s Mansion to the public for free tours. Just in time for the holidays, tours of the Governor’s Mansion and West Virginia State Capitol give visitors an inside look into two of the Mountain State’s most iconic landmarks.

As announced during last week’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, a unique treat awaits at the Mansion this holiday season. The First Lady has created a special life-size gingerbread house that children will be excited to enter on their way to the front door of the Governor’s Mansion. Starting today, tours of both the Governor’s Mansion and the West Virginia State Capitol are available to be booked online.

“We are so excited to open up the Governor’s Mansion for tours,” said First Lady Morrisey. “The Christmas season is a special time to share the Mansion’s rich history and holiday spirit with families and guests across our great state. I can’t wait to see children’s faces light up when they see our special gingerbread house.”

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Governor’s mansion, one of West Virginia’s most beloved residences. Nestled along the banks of the Kanawha River, this stately home has been the center of historical milestones since 1925.

Tours of the Governor’s Mansion are offered Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tours of the Governor’s Mansion can be combined with a tour of the West Virginia State Capitol Building for an immersive historical day.
