Clay Board of Education meeting moved pretty swiftly on Monday, January 11, 2016. Firstly, Kevin Isaacs, Business Manager/Treasurer gave a financial update. Clay County Schools have increased their enrollment, which qualifies Clay for a grant. Donna Abel’s retirement as a teacher at Lizemore Elementary School is effective June 30, 2016.
Also, Mike Evans’ resignation/retirement as a school bus operator will be in effect at the end of the 2015-2016 school year.  Logan Ramsey has been approved as a substitute teacher. Ramsey is a 2010 graduate of Clay County High School. Ramsey has no further certification to teach other than substitute teaching. Jason Nichols has been employed as the Head Football Coach at Clay County High School.
The following have been  terminated from the substitute custodian list due to no contact: Jennifer Bodkins, Will Rhodes, and Amanda Burdette.
Rebecca Hamrick is resigning from Clay Elementary as a 2nd grade teacher, effective on Friday, January 22, 2016.
The purchase or lease of the auxiliary vehicle for transportation of a Calhoun student is no longer needed. However, the board is still going to purchase a vehicle in the future.
Auditors will be in Clay all week for the annual audit. One of the auditors sat-in on the meeting on Monday and witnessed the Board in action.
