Elk River Boxing Club Hopes to Offer Youth Program

Elk River Boxing Club started July 7th  2015. I had been wanting to open something in theElkview area for the last several years. A lot of the kids were coming to the gym I had in St Albans from Elkview. There really hadn’t been a place in this area for kids until LeaAnn and Jesse Corbin opened up the Elk River Sports Complex.  I contacted them and we all had the same vision if giving the youth of the area a safe positive drug free environment that would give the kids an outlet to participate in Boxing Karate and Kickboxing.
We have a strong emphasis on health and education for the kids. We’ve had several children come into the gym with stage 2 diabetes. A combination of our exercise routines along with a healthy change of diet have helped them get it under control.
All of the kids are required to bring in their progress reports and report cards. We have a homework area for any of the kids that need a little extra help with there classes.
It’s our hopes that the combination of physical activity, and a strong emphasis on health and education we can help the children of northern Kanawha County and Southern Clay and Roane counties. For more information about Elk River Boxing Club contact Rob Fletcher at 681.313. 6001.
