In honor of the wonderful creations of Dr. Seuss, the students of Clay Elementary celebrated the first week of March in style.  Sponsored across the country by the National Education Society, the annual Read Across America event takes place the week of March 2 in celebration of the birthday of the deceased author Theodore Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss.   Extending the events to span the entire week, the Clay Elementary Panthers participated in crazy sock and hair day, favorite character day, pajama day and blue and gold day.  Many local leaders and politicians visited the school during the week to read a variety books from the Seuss collections to the student body.  Classrooms throughout the building created many Dr. Seuss themed activities including STEM projects, preparing homemade Oobleck, and most importantly – reading!  The students were thrilled at the opportunity to celebrate “sprit week” while re-enforcing the importance and joy of reading.
