In April, Clay County High School had 25 students travel to West Virginia State University to compete in the American Chemical Society Sectional Exam and the ACS Local Chemistry Olympiad exam.
Results and Awards were not announced or presented until a banquet held at WVSU on May 16. Only the top three teams and individuals were announced.
Though our students did not place in the top three, the ACS presented certificates for being the highest scorers at CCHS to David Tanner, who was the top scoring Chemistry 1 student for CCHS, and to Sunny Hudnall who was the top scoring Chemistry 2 student.
Zach Myers competed in the ACS Regional Chemistry Competition and was awarded a $2,000 a year scholarship to attend WV State and major in chemistry.
