Board of Education Meeting Held

Monday’s Board of Education meeting was the last before teachers and students have their first days back in the class room. The usual items on the agenda were approved so the meeting could proceed.
This meeting was full of hire approvals and transfer approvals. For Clay Elementary, Rachel Lancaster was approved for employment as 1st grade teacher and Joanne Nine was approved for employment as 3rd grade teacher. The board members approved the resignation of Sheree Raines as 1st grade teacher at H.E. White Elementary and the transfer of Dustin Vaughan from 4th/5th grade teacher to 3rd grade teacher at H.E. White Elementary. Tammy Dobbins Wolfe was approved as Title I teacher and Darlene Cliver was approved as 4th/5th grade teacher at H.E. White Elementary School, effective immediately. Nada Waddell was approved for employment as Contracted Curriculum Coach for Clay County Schools. Tye J. Ward was approved as substitute teacher for the 2015-2016 school year, pending certification. Clay Middle School Band’s request in the amount of $2,000.00 for the repair of band instruments was approved. There were several transfers that were approved from the counties of Nicholas, Roane, Fayette and Calhoun. The board members then approved the purchase of uniforms for bus operators in the amount of $175.00 for each driver for the 2015-2016 school year. The next school board meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 24, 2015 at 6:00pm at the Board Office.
