Autism Training Planned for First Responders in June

Attn readers: I am writing to invite your department to a first responder training that I am organizing. I have a 4 year old son with Autism and one of my greatest fears is being in an accident and not being able to tell the EMS, police, or fire fighters that he may not behave or communicate correctly. It has been on my heart for a while to try to do something in our area to help educate. I have collaborated with Ben Childers from the Autism Training Center through Marshal University to host this training. The training has been scheduled for June 25th 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Clay County High in their auditorium. I am going to have refreshments as well during this training. The training covers “Overview of Autism”, “Autism & Wandering”, “Tips for Encountering Individuals with ASD”, and ETC. It typically is about 2 hours. There are some videos included too.
I would love for members of your department to attend this training. I am a Nicholas County citizen, but my son attends Clay County Schools. I travel all over the state and I would be so excited to know that members from all surrounding areas are trained or refreshed in how to deal with my son if I am to ever be in an accident. I would love to hear that someone from your area will be coming to the training. There will be some give away items, and of course a free lunch. Please contact me if you are interested in attending.

Thank you sincerely,
Regina Potasnik
