MILTON, West Virginia- Firefighter John Buckland, dressed as Batman for his “Heroes 4 Hire” business, saw smoke rising from a nearby house while he was teaching a group of kids. He and Captain America (Troy Marcum) rushed into the Milton, West Virginia house and saved a cat, yes they performed CPR.
PORTLAND, Oregon-A criminal grabbed his trusty baseball bat and decided to go rob a store. Unfortunately, the store he allegedly decided to rob was a gun shop. “The guns they sell aren’t loaded,” he might have been thinking, which, while true, fails to account for the likelihood that those who work in gun stores might be gun enthusiasts who like to take their guns to work. And, indeed, when Mosley allegedly barged into Discount Gun Sales and smashed a display counter with his baseball bat, “the store manager simply pulled out his own personal firearm and pointed it straight at the would-be-robber.”
JACKSON, Mississippi- Officials say a group of alligator hunters’ 741.5-pound catch broke the state record only a week after it was set twice in one day.
Ricky Flynt, Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks’ Alligator Program coordinator, confirmed the gator caught Sunday weighed 741.5 pounds, making it a new state record for a male gator. The catch, which equaled the state record for length at 13 feet, 6.5 inches, came just a week after a record-setting 723.5-pound alligator.
ENGLAND-DNA tests confirmed that the bones found under a parking lot in Leicester, England, were those of King Richard III. The skeleton is just one of many surprising discoveries unearthed at construction sites. Mass grave of headless Vikings were found at a road construction in Dorset, England. A total of 51 headless skeletons were found during an archaeological survey prior to road construction in southern England. The skeletons, which were tangled together in a pit, are believed to have been Vikings killed between A.D. 890 and 1034.
MILWAUKEE, Michigan-The Michigan Department of Transportation said a “loose gorilla” warning in Saginaw County was the result of a hacked highway sign. The department said the sign alongside Interstate 75, near the Milwaukee Bridge, was hacked Friday and the text was changed to read “I-75 is closed due to loose gorilla,” WNEM-TV, Saginaw, Mich., reported Tuesday.
