The fishing derby at Wallback Lake was a huge hit on Saturday morning. Kids of all ages got up with the sun to get a spot on the lake to have a chance at catching some fish and winning some prizes. There were prizes of all kinds for kids of all ages. There were fishing poles, tackle boxes, fishing nets, all the things needed to have a successful fishing trip. With his piston cup right beside him, Lightening McQueen made an appearance at the fishing derby for all the kids to take a peek at and get their picture taken with.

There were booths set up to hand out a variety of free things to the kids. One booth was giving away shirts that said “Keep Calm and Stay Drug Free.” The slogan for the Wallback Lake Youth Fishing Derby is “Hooked on fishing – Not on Drugs.” Smokey the Bear and the Dog from US Army Corps of Engineers also made an appearance and were willing to get their picture taken with the kids. The fishing derby was a huge success and was enjoyed by not only the kids but the parents and spectators as well.
