The Panther wrestling team travelled to Sissonville to participate in a six team tournament on Saturday. The team did very well – five of the seven wrestlers that participated went undefeated. The team also took third place overall in the tournament. The tournaments so far have been duals tournaments, and you might as well face it, with only half a team the Panthers will have a tough time getting to first place. However, that being said, when it comes to bracketed tournaments the CCHS Panthers will no doubt dominate the mats at the different weight classes and bring home some individual championships. This season is all about the state championship matches for the CCHS Panther wrestlers. The wrestling program in this county has always had wrestlers that are at the top of the food chain and have consistently placed high at the state championships with quite a few individual state champions, and this season will be no different. The team has wrestled 105 times so far this year and has won 82% of those matches. Five of the wrestlers have combined an impressive 82 wins with only three losses, 44 of which were by pin fall. So, if you want to see some great wrestling, the Panthers will be at the Pat Vance invitational at Nitro High School this weekend. Start off the new year with some rough and tough wrestling, and as always support your teams.
