The Panther basketball team had a wild and crazy match this past Saturday evening against the Tide from Sherman.   The game started a little slow for buckets with neither team wearing out the net.  However, the game progressed and Sherman stayed just ahead of the Panthers on the score board.  The Panthers had to play catch up but held the score close enough to turn the game around for a win.  It was not to be;, Sherman, with their full court press, stayed in the Panthers’ faces and threw their usual game off center.  The game was fast paced and any teams to win, but it boiled down to which team made the most mistakes.  The Panthers had a tough time passing the ball and couldn’t seem to get the buckets to fall their way.   The Panthers closed the gap to 49-53 with under two minutes to play, but costly turnovers at the end allowed Sherman to add eight more to the boards with the final score being Clay 51, Sherman 61.  The Panthers will be back with a score to settle when the Huskies from Hoover roll into town next Friday night – it should be a great game.   It’s still early in the season, so set back and get ready for more great basketball from the Panther camp. The team has an abundance of basketball talent and should  be in the hunt for a title.
