The CCHS track teams travelled to Roane County to compete in the Lindsey Mann Memorial on Friday. Here they met up with five of the toughest teams in AA. The track team is running their way into the history books, and on this night, it would be six of the CCHS track team athletes carving their own names in the index: Evan Bass, Daymian Stricker, Cameren Nelson, Kaden Fitzwater, Ashley Roberts, and Xena Legg. These six athletes have been in the game since they started at CCHS, have been a force for the team and have been at the top of the food chain in scoring for the team. They will not be forgotten on this team and will be hard to replace.
Having said that, the Panthers took first in the event while the Lady Panthers took second place. Individual standouts included Bass, Scarbro, Stricker, Fitzwater, Nida and Bird. Evan Bass took 1st in the 110-meter hurdles, 3rd in the high jump and 4th in the long jump. Brody Scarbro took 5th in the 100-meter, 4th in the 200-meter and 2nd in the discus. Daymian Stricker took 1st in the 400-meter, 1st in the 300-meter hurdles, was part of the 1st place 110-meter shuttle hurdle team and took 2nd in the high jump. Kaden Fitzwater was 1st in the 800-meter and 1st in the 1600-meter. The 110-meter shuttle hurdle team was 1st, the 4×200 was 3rd, the 4×400 was 1st and the 4×800 was 1st. Justin Nida was 2nd in the 300 hurdles and was part of the shuttle hurdle team. Tilyr Bird was 3rd on the 300-meter hurdles and was one of the members of the 1st place shuttle hurdle team.
The Lady Panther standouts were Legg, McKinney, Beard, Berberich, Morris, Roberts, Wood and Stricker Xena Legg took 1st in the shot put and 2nd in the discus. Langston McKinney placed 2nd in the long jump and was part of the 4×100 and 4×200 2nd place relay teams. Ivy Beard was 3rd in the 100-meter and 4th in the 200-meter. Sophia Berberich placed 3rd in the 400-meter and 4th in the 800-meter runs. Miranda Morris took 5th in the 1600-meter. Ashley Roberts took 2nd in the 3200-meter and 4th in the 300-meter hurdles. The 4×100 and the 4×200 and 4×102.5 relay teams placed 2nd. Jayda Woods and Jayda Stricker were 3rd and 4th in the 100-meter hurdles, and it was Jayda Stricker and Jayda Woods 2nd and 3rd in the 300-meter hurdles. The season is winding down, and CCHS track will be back in action on May 1st in the Tudors Biscuit World relay championship at Laidley Field.
In other track news, Marissa Atha shocked the running world taking 1st in the 3200 meters, 2nd in the 1600 and 3rd in the 800 meter runs at the Legacy Open held at Laidley Field on Tuesday.
