Despite the bitter cold and snow, the community of Clay came together Thursday to support law enforcement by painting our town blue. Orchestrated by the Wives Behind the Badge organization, Clay County was quick to jump on board to participate, with the County Commission signing a resolution to officially declare February 19 Paint the Town Blue Day. The men and women behind the blue lights deserve to know how much we appreciate them, and a drive through Clay on Thursday afternoon showed just that. Employees added blue to their wardrobes, businesses displayed blue lights in their windows and blue ribbons hung from the doors of homes, all as a way of silently saying “Thank You” to the city, county and state law enforcement officers who serve us each and every day. There is no doubt that the people of Clay County honor and respect the policemen who answer the call of duty to keep our homes and lives safe.
