National Day of PrayerOn May 1st Clay County citizens gathered together to worship our Lord and Savior. The County Courthouse square was beaming with beautiful faces young and old that came in accordance to worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The Bible states, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” Matthew 18:20.

The raising of the flag was commenced by the Clay VFW Post 4419. Opening prayer was then presented by Pastor Kenneth Tanner. Vicki Browne, Annette Rogers, and Beverly Whaling sang You Can’t Take Jesus out of My Life. Michael Holcomb performed sign language to the song while the girls were singing.

Pastor Wayne Litton delivered the message on prayer. Verse Matthew 21:22 in the Bible states: “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive” KJV. Groves Creek Community Church Kid’s Choir sang. Commissioner Mike Pierson spoke on the history of the National Day of Prayer. The community joined in with Kenneth Tanner as he sang the song of Amazing Grace. A moment of silence was had at the closing of the ceremony in remembrance of why we are here.
