The Lady Panthers went 1 for 2 this week, as well, having two matches against Braxton and Webster. They travelled to Braxton County last Wednesday to take on the Lady Eagles. This game was not one of their best outings. Braxton came out hammering the ball and scored six runs in the first inning, and the Lady Panthers just couldn’t get the bats heated up. They lost this one 0-13. Alisha Angel and Sarah Boggs had hits in the game. Next up was Webster, and it was time for a little redemption and payback. Alisha Angel once again brought out the whipping stick going 2 for 2 with three RBI’s and a double. Kyla Smith was throwing the heat from the mound and picked up her second no hitter of the season. The Lady Panthers had on their running legs, as well, with each one scoring at least a run in the game. Final score 12-2. With this win, the Lady Panthers improved on their season and are now 7-5 with a tough week coming up. Summer Alley also brought out the big stick, going 2-3 with a double and 2 RBI’s. Carlie Roat scored two runs and had a single and a stolen base. Mackenzie Burford went 1-1, scored 2 times and had 2 RBI’s. It was a good win for the Lady Panthers who seem to just keep getting better and better. The Lady Panther JV who are 4-1 on the season took to the field afterward and proceeded to take care of the business at hand. Lefty Katie Yoho took to the mound for the first time this season, and she was there to stay. In the five innings she pitched, she fanned 10 batters and sent them to the dugout. She also got the win under her belt. Graci Mitchell went 2-2 in the game with a double, a walk and 2 RBI’s. Amanda Townsend was 1-2 with a double and 2 RBI’s. Lydia Lynch did some good base running and scored three runs. Final score was Clay JV 8, Webster JV 6. The Lady Panthers will have a full schedule next week with eight games playing Gilmer, Calhoun, Hoover, and Roane. If you get the chance, get out and catch a game.
