Kaleigh Brown breaks Ripley’s defense.

The Lady Mustangs are in the hunt for a championship.  The girls suffered a loss in the championship last year ending a lengthy winning streak.  This year will be the time for pay back.  The Lady Mustangs have beat the boards in each game this year destroying the competition.  Their only loss was a pre season match up against Ripley, a non region team.  It was a brutal match leaving Ripley the winner in OT.  This past Thursday Ripley came into town during regular season in what would prove to be a statement for the Lady Mustangs.  Ripley is not a slouch team with plenty of talent and an all out defense and offense.  This would prove meaningless; the Clay girls were all over Ripley with a defense that was hard to read as well as get through.  The Lady Mustangs attacked the boards and out rebounded Ripley.  In this rematch they controlled the game from the start.  Erica Boggs burnt the net with 14 points in the game to lead the Lady Mustangs in points.  It was a brutal matchup with both teams not wanting to yield to the other.  In the end it was the Lady Mustangs over Ripley.   The Lady Mustangs are primed to bring the trophy back where it belongs, and that is in the halls of CCMS.  The Lady Panthers are also on a nine game winning streak after beating Roane and Gilmer this past week.   They will play their last home game of the season this Friday night against Calhoun, and it will also be Senior night.  Come out and support the Lady Panthers as this could be the year of the cat at the state championship.
