kesslerSenate President Jeff Kessler (D-Marshall) announced today that he has been asked to serve as a member of the State Strategies in Energy Committee for the National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA).
Senate President Kessler was asked to serve as a member on the State Strategies in Energy Committee earlier this month by NLGA Chairman and Oklahoma Lt. Governor Todd Lamb.
“Appointment to this committee is a vote of confidence from Lt. Governor Lamb and my colleagues,” says Kessler. “West Virginia has been a national leader in energy production throughout its history; from its long tradition in coal mining to its current natural gas boom. West Virginia’s rich history and bright economic energy future can provide valuable insights to this committee.”
The State Strategies in Energy Committee presents a forum for lieutenant governors to explore factors related to energy and the environment.
“Energy issues impact everything from jobs and manufacturing and the “price at the pump” to water and world security,” says NLGA Director Julia Hurst. “Energy has been a top issue for all lieutenant governors for years and this committee will facilitate the continued exchange of shared experience and insight on the topic.”
NLGA is the professional association providing research and issue exchange opportunities to the officeholders first in line of succession to governor in all 50 states and the U.S territories
