Doug Facemire, Democratic Senator representing the 12th Senatorial District has announced his intentions to seek reelection. “I am honored to have served the residents of north central West Virginia as your Senator for the past eight years. I have worked hard to look after the best interest of the people and while the current makeup of the legislative leadership makes that job more challenging than ever before, I am ready to face those obstacles and do what is best for my district,” stated Facemire.
During his tenure as Senator, Doug Facemire has served on the Finance, Energy, Military, and Natural Resources Committees as well as the prestigious Government Organizations Committee.
“While I recognize and honor my commitment to explain my actions to those who elect me, I stand behind my voting record. I have always tried to do what’s right for the working people of our state above and beyond the influence of the special interest lobbies,” added the Senator. “I feel the biggest obstacle facing our state right now is the upcoming budget. These are tough times for West Virginia. We must address these issues and maintain positions that least impact the pocketbooks of our citizens.
“My door has always been open as it will continue to be. When citizens have concerns, I want to hear them. I may not be able to fix their problems, but it is my job to listen to them, be honest with my response and do the best I can to help them. If I am reelected, I am committed to continuing that effort.”
A businessman, Senator Facemire operates seven family owned grocery stores and a trucking company in the Mountain State. He and his wife of 34 years, Tammy live in Sutton, They have three children.
