Luther Hanson spoke on behalf of his company HERA Environmental at Wednesday’s County Commission meeting

Dilapidated, deplorable properties in the county are a huge problem and one local man thinks he has a way of helping. Luther Hanson attended Wednesday’s County Commission meeting to speak to those in attendance about brownfield issues in the county and how his business, HERA Environmental, could assist with the problem. Brownfields are properties that have been polluted or contaminated, in many cases by meth labs, asbestos or other hazardous materials. Hanson pitched the possibility of HERA Environmental conducting an assessment of the properties within the county that may qualify as brownfields, writing grants to help secure funds and to provide clean up to the properties. Representatives of Clay Health Care Center attended the meeting as they were interested in the possibility of two pieces of property adjacent to the clinic in Two Run being assessed as candidate properties for the program. No decisions were made regarding the proposal.
