Due to rising crime in Clay, Connie’s calls it quits.
Due to rising crime in Clay, Connie’s calls it quits.

By Erica Kearns

Careless, defiant, derelict activities have caused one local business to close its doors for good. Last week thugs busted through the front door of Connie’s Restaurant at the Y between Routes 4 and 16 directly across from Go-Mart in Clay. Getting away with a mere $9.76, the criminals wreaked havoc on the building and left quite a mess for owner Connie Ramsey to clean up.

“The complete disrespect shown to me and my business is all I can handle.” Connie says. “Regretfully I am left no choice but to close down. I didn’t get into the restaurant business to deal with messes like the one left for me Friday morning.” Because of the ever growing crime Clay is experiencing, what was once a popular lunch place is now an empty vacant building. No arrests have been made in the incident.
