First graders from Mrs. Kearns, Mrs. Philips, Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Schoolcraft enjoying the 100th day of school

Clay Elementary celebrated the 100th day of school in great style this year!  Students from Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades participated in a variety of 100 themed activities including dressing as centenarians, making lists of 100 things to bring to a deserted island, 100 number scavenger hunts, what I would do with $100 essays, 100 years from now journals, making collections of 100 items, as well as many others, all while gaining the achievement of being 100 days smarter.  Many classes rotated between teachers to experience a variety of 100th day STEM activities as well as arts and crafts.   These activities were incorporated with the purpose of allowing children to celebrate the achievement of counting, estimating, reading about and understanding the concept of the number 100 – all day long.
