On Feb. 26, the West Virginia State Police arrested Richard Grad following a fatal shooting at a residence located at 303 Blue Knob Road in Maysel.
At approximately 9:40 a.m., State Police received a dispatch regarding a shooting after a witness at a local gas station reported that Grad had confessed to killing someone. While en route to the scene, troopers were informed that the Clay County Sheriff’s Office had taken Grad into custody.
Upon arrival at the residence, law enforcement discovered a female victim, identified as Ms. Ketion, deceased in the kitchen from a gunshot wound to the back of the head. Investigators recovered a spent shotgun casing in the kitchen and a black shotgun with a live round on a couch in the living room.
According to the criminal complaint, Grad waived his Miranda rights and provided a statement to investigators. Grad stated that during a verbal argument regarding the discipline of their child, he retrieved a shotgun from a safe and shot Ms. Ketion.
