In other sports news, the baseball and softball teams from CCHS hit the field this week and had some highs and lows on the diamond. The Lady Panthers softball team has been in a slump, dropping four of their last five games in the losing bracket. As the season progresses, the Lady Panthers will get better; most of the games they lost were very close games, just a matter of who brought the biggest sticks. Rain also cancelled two of their games this week. They did have a win against Capitol High School. The Panther baseball team went one for two with a big win coming against Sherman 6-3. The Panthers lost a close one against Herbert Hoover 5-8. It was a good game, but mistakes will kill you. You guessed it, rain has played a big factor in their schedule as well. The Panthers will be at home this week against Doddridge on Monday night and away at Roane County on Tuesday night. Once again, weather permitting, the games will go on. Get out and catch a game if you can, but bring umbrellas to be on the safe side.
