Well, the only thing I can say is that if the Panthers stay on the level of baseball they are playing now, this could be the year of the cat.
Last week, the Panthers racked up four wins against some tough competition. The Panthers are now on a six-game winning streak with their latest victims Roane County, Poca, and Braxton all falling on their sword in the end.
Roane County, a normal powerhouse in baseball, couldn’t get past the pitching prowess of Caleb Wynn in the first game of a double header. Wynn was relentless and pitched the whole game, giving up just five hits and one run. On offense, he had a double and scored three runs in the game. The Panthers jumped on the board with four runs on five hits in the first inning and didn’t slow down until the 4th inning after scattering 12 hits and adding six more runs. The Raiders just couldn’t get the ball to crack the bat, and when the dust settled, it was the Panthers short gaming the Raiders by the score of 11-1. Corey Elswick had three hits in the game, including a double with 2 RBI’s. Colton Moore had a triple and an RBI.
The Panthers went on the road to Poca and had a big win there, outscoring the Dots 11-8. Then it was back home with a rematch against Braxton, and the Panthers squeaked by them by the score of 5-4. The Panthers are playing top notch baseball, and Monday night will tell the tale as the Panthers take on the Hoover Huskies. This game has always been a good one to be on the sidelines to watch. It is always full of 100 percent baseball, and in the end, it’s all about who makes the most mistakes or who has what it takes. Hoover is tough, and it will be a good matchup. The Panthers are full swing this week with games each night, whether on the road or at home. Get out and catch a game the season is almost over. Go Panthers!
