The Panther basketball team also locked horns this week against both Doddridge County and Scott High School.

Both games were barn burners, and the Panthers’ horses never made it out of the stalls.

The first game against the Doddridge Bulldogs was a slow one for the Panthers as they couldn’t seem to get locked into the net. Nate Canfield and Thomas Haverty were both in double digits with Canfield having 12 and Haverty knocking down 10. Other than that, offense was at a standstill. There was a lot of action in the paint on both sides of the ball; at times it sounded like a patty cake contest with all the contact.

Doddridge County was able to get by the defense of the Panthers and hit enough buckets to win. The final score was Clay-44, Doddridge-61.

Next up was the Scott Skyhawks, and this game would prove to be a little closer. Thomas Haverty was on fire scoring 20 points in the game but it wasn’t enough. Ryan Burdette added 11 more points to the boards as the Panthers lose another close one by the score of Clay 47, Scott 57.
Their next game will be at home on Wednesday night against Hoover. It will be a tough one, so come out and support the Panthers.
