The Panther baseball team went 1 for 3 this past week as they struggle to get on track. They opened up the week against Capitol, and they had a tough time getting the hits they needed to put on the boards. Capitol got on the boards first and never looked back. When the smoke cleared, it was Capitol over the Panthers 6-1. Gilmer was up next and the Panthers were still having trouble getting hits when they needed them the most. The Panthers scattered nine hits over the field bringing in three runs, but Gilmer had eight big hits and racked up 13 runs in the game making the final score Panthers 3 Gilmer 13. The Panthers needed a win to raise morale and that came as they locked horns with Braxton. Both teams managed a single run in the 1st inning to start things off, but the Panthers’ bats started singing a different song. They burned five more runs across the plate in the 2nd inning to add to Braxton’s misery and nine more over the next two innings. Braxton couldn’t answer the call, and when it was over, the Panthers got a much needed win; the final score was Panthers 15, Braxton 5.
With this win under their belt and still plenty of games, there is time left for them to light the neon on their season. They will be back in action this week in a three game tour. One of the games will be away and two will be at home starting with South Harrison away and Roane and South Harrison at home. Check your schedules and get to a game.
