Shuttle hurdle team L-R Evan Bass, Justin Nida, Daymian Stricker and Takota Quinn

By Allen Hamrick

This past weekend was the time for the state track meet held at UC Stadium. It was a perfect day as the wind blew and clouds dotted the skies.  There were many good athletes at this year’s meet which was evidenced as records were being broken or tied and new standards were being set for next year. To say the least, the competition was tough.

The 4×200 meter relay team and the boys’ shuttle hurdle team competed in their respective events and were up against some of the fastest teams in the state.  In the shuttle hurdle race, the boys ran as hard as anyone could ask and were once again in the top ten placing 8th in the state.  The 4×200 team placed 14th in the state after running a great time; all times were as tight as a drum head with seconds separating places.   All in all, it has been a great season for CCHS track.

The team gets better each year, and this year’s state competition is solid proof that if you want to be on a winning team and you’re looking for a chance to show what you’re made of, join the CCHS track team. The team continues to grow as a powerhouse and will be back next season looking for a new state title.

CCHS will have some up and coming athletes from CCMS that will fine tune the team and add to the roster.  Congratulations to the teams for gutting out the season and becoming some of the best in this state.
