It was a battle royal last Monday night at the Bradley Field coliseum. The Nicholas County Grizzlies came to town, and it was game on from the beginning.

There were more flags flying than at a United Nations meeting. Yellow was everywhere as the hitting began. They might as well have had ropes around the field and called it MMA; to say the hitting was hard was an understatement. The Panthers were getting pounded hard, and it looked as though football had been set back about 70 years to when there was no holds barred. It was the JV Grizzlies that were laying the Panthers on the field and scoring. Enough was enough – the Panthers were sick of receiving the blunt force trauma and started doing a little pounding of their own.

After a couple of hits, the Panthers got fired up and started scoring, going ahead on points by the score of  22-20. However, the JV Grizzlies weren’t done yet and the game went back and forth. When the smoke cleared, the battles lines drawn and the wounded carried off to the M.A.S.H. unit, it was the Grizzlies on top by the narrow score of 30-32. It was a good game, and if you missed it, you missed an all gloves off tough football game that definitely brought out the muscle rub after it was over. Panthers are on the move as well with a 38-14 win over Liberty Raleigh, they will meet Independence High School this Friday night.  The Panthers are 4-1 on the season.
