Mustangs Take Down Walton

The CCMS Mustangs travelled to Walton this past Thursday night on a very cold October evening to try and get on the winning side of the coin. The cold, however, didn’t chill the spirits of the Mustangs; it only strengthened their resolve to win as cold weather and football just seem to go hand in hand. The Mustangs got down to the business of football and let nothing stand in the way of a win. The Mustang defense was like a wall covered with kevlar, and Walton just couldn’t penetrate the line or the secondary. Walton was able to rack up a few points but the Mustang offense proved to be the best this night. All of the boys on offense had a great game as they moved the ball downfield, kept possession of the ball and took time off the clock – a well executed game.
The defense was relentless in pursuit of the ball and was able to notch a touchdown of their own after a fumble recovery in the end zone. The line for the Mustangs was tight, closing ranks and stopping up the holes all through the game. Walton tried to take the ball to the outside but there was no room. The Mustangs spread across the field like the plague and shut down the Walton offense.
The cheerleaders were in a frenzy and fans were busting their lungs to see the Mustangs get their first win of the season. Walton became a check off on the Mustang bucket list of things to get done. The final score was Mustangs 40 and Walton 24. Next up on the list is Homecoming night for the Mustangs, and they will host Spencer. A win against Spencer will definitely be a tough task, but with the Mustangs getting some of their key players back, they might be back on track. So, come on out Thursday night and support the 2015 Mustangs and their royalty as the regular season ends.pic1
