The Lady Mustang and Mustang basketball teams travelled to Valley-Fayette on Thursday to wreak some havoc, and that they did.

The Lady Mustangs were first up to play in front of a nearly packed gymnasium. It was a brutal match between the two teams, with both trying to get just enough points to win the game.  Defense was the order of the night; girls were bouncing off the floor like the basketball they were dribbling, and a point was as hard to get as winning lottery ticket.

However, it was the Lady Mustangs that were able to find the net the most, scoring just single digits in all four periods, but it was enough to win the game. Shaylee Robinson was top shooter with nine points followed closely by Alyssa Deal with seven. The final score in the game was Mustangs 26, Valley 17.

Next up was the Mustang boys, and they simply schooled the Valley boys in basketball.

When class was over, it was Mustangs on top by the score of 45-15.

The Mustangs have only lost one this season and are well on their way to a possible championship. They will be a tough team to beat. They have the speed and the height, and as long as they can keep the consistent high shooting percentage, nobody will beat them again.

The Lady Mustangs have four games left before tournament play begins. The Mustangs have five games yet to play according to the wssac.org website. Things could change on the schedule so make sure you call or get a schedule from the school. Both of these teams have a chance at bringing the championship trophy home to CCMS.
