The Clay County Middle School Track team is winding down what has been a very successful season.  In its first five meets, the team won two, placed third in one, and fourth in another.  Anywhere from ten to fifteen teams compete at each meet.  This past week the team participated in its sixth meet of the year, the Sherman Invitational, at Laidley Field.  Despite being unable to field a complete team due to injuries and illness, the team put 28 points on the board. Kane Nida was high point scorer with 12 points.  He placed third in the 200 meter hurdles, 4th in the long jump, and sixth in the 100 meter hurdles. Logan Lautzenheizer placed fourth in the 100 meter hurdles. The shuttle hurdle relay team of Kaden Fitzwater, Logan Lautenheizer, Daymian Pappas and Justin Nida placed second. The team of Brody Scarbro, T.J. Quinn, Daymian Pappas and Kane Nida placed fourth in the 4 x 400 relay. And Bryson Peters, Justin Nida, Adrian Davison and Shane Tracy placed sixth in the 4 x 800 relay. For the girls, Lexi Phillips placed sixth in the shot put with a personal best throw of 22 feet3 1/4 inches.  The team has one week to prepare for the CWVAC Conference Meet at Roane County High School to be held May 14th.  Best of luck to all the athletes!
