Receiving 2013 LKC Special Honorable Mention awards were L-R Peyton Lucas, Emily Wynn, and Carlee Craddock. Receiving the LKC Second Team and the Honorable Mention AA All-State was Gracen Samples.

The CCHS Lady Panthers hosted the Lady Grizzlies from Nicholas County and the Lady Red Dragons from St. Albans High School this past Tuesday evening. In the last meeting between the Lady Panthers and the Lady Grizzlies, the Lady Grizzlies came out on top. It was not to be this day, however, as the lady Panthers were well prepared for the game and made very few mistakes which, in the game of volleyball, usually determines the fate of a team. St Albans was up next and came out swinging, but with precise blocking, the Lady Panthers put an end to their offense and settled into the task of sending the Lady Red Dragons packing. All the Lady Panthers look as though their skills are set, oiled, and greased for the up and coming Sectionals where they must place first or second in order to continue to the regional competition this coming weekend. The Sectionals will be held on Tuesday, November 5th, at Herbert Hoover High School. Game time is 7 pm. If you have opportunity, come out and support the team. They have worked hard to get to this point and have the prospects of going far. We wish them well on their pursuit of the State Championship.
The team bid a fond farewell to their only senior, Carlee Craddock, who has played the game of volleyball this year and has taken the position of libero to outstanding levels. Libero is a position critical to a team’s chances of winning, and Carlee is one of the best. It is a position that specializes in defense and serve reception, and Craddock has played her way into the history books and will be remembered as one of the finest on the floor. She will be missed at the net next season. Congratulations to Carlee and only the best of wishes in the future. Last season’s awards were also given out to four of the players: Peyton Lucas, Emily Wynn, Carlee Craddock, and Gracen Samples. Lucas, Wynn, and Craddock received the LKC Special Honorable Mention and Samples took home the LKC Second Team and the Honorable Mention AA All State Team. Congratulations to those players, as well. With that being said, there are still a few games left and a State Championship looming on the horizon. Let’s get them Lady Panthers!
