Lady Panthers are back in the winner’s circle

Paris Williams gets 2 points the hard way.

By Allen Hamrick

The Lady Panthers have had a couple of tough weeks of basketball, dropping three games in the lost and found box.  On the courts, they play all out, in your face basketball but the baskets are like finding food in the desert.  However, it was time to exterminate the bugs and get back to the business of winning.  Calhoun brought in the best of the best to hand the Lady Panthers their fourth loss in a row, but it was not to be this time.  Paris Williams and Evie Young got their groove on and were burning the net from inside the paint and the perimeter.  Calhoun took their shot at the Lady Panthers, and every play went down hard.  The Lady Panthers came to play. They led the Lady Red Devils for the whole game, and it looked as if the Lady Panthers were going to lift the roses in the winner’s circle. That they did in Lady Panther style. The Lady Panthers led the game 20-14 at the half and only got better from there.

Evie Young gets the job done on defense and offense.

When the dribbling stopped, it was the Lady Panthers with the win 47-30.  Paris Williams was the ace with 18 points followed closely by Evie Young with 12 and Ilyauna Evans with 10.  The Lady Panthers are closing in on the final games of the season with just six games left to play.    The Lady Panthers will take their win on the road in action against the tough Braxton team on January 27th.  The girls have some tough games ahead of them.  It will be interesting to see if the Lady Panthers will stay on the fast pace they have set for themselves and win this season out. They have the ability and the skill; it’s time to get it done.
