The 2026 Lady Mustangs had their home opener against Valley this past Thursday. Some of the Lady Mustang big guns returned packing pretty good powder with some added heat, and some have the leaping ability of a deer that, at the height of their jump, can hit a volleyball hard enough to knock the teeth out of a beaver. Let’s just say that the Lady Mustangs have more than one star hitter, and this will keep the other side guessing for sure. Not only do the Lady Mustangs have a kill line, but they also have girls that can play some tough defense. These ladies do not care to throw their bodies onto the floor to save the shot.
The Lady Mustangs’ cannons were primed and loaded, and they fired the kill shots. Not all of them hit their mark, and the Lady Greyhounds had their chances, but in the end, they just couldn’t take a battering from the Lady Mustangs.
They played a total of two games, with the Lady Mustangs struggling a little in one of them, but they managed to pick up the win. In volleyball, there is no time to stand flatfooted.
The Valley girls were not willing to go down easily and were dropping bombs of their own, but most were picked up by the Lady Mustang defense. In the end, it didn’t matter as the Lady Mustangs took both games by force and notched the wins. The first game was 25-21, and the second game was 25-16. In the last game, Kinley Collins was a serving machine as she managed to ace the win with serves, hitting eight aces in a row. The girls will be back at home on Monday in a tri match against Ravenswood and Webster. Go Lady Mustangs!
