The Lady Mustangs have had a whirlwind season this year and have had no trouble from any team other than the Lady Bears of Summersville.  This past week would prove it once again. When the Lady Mustangs and the Lady Bears compete, it is for all the marbles and who eats the most crow.  As in every game between these two titan middle school teams, it is tooth and nail action with plenty of dust and plenty of As The World Turns drama.  The Lady Mustangs took to the field with ice in their veins and got down to business.  Gracie Johnston took to the hill and started burning strikes.  This didn’t settle to well with the Summersville coach as he questioned the calls.  Me, I’m not sure how the umpire could miss the call directly behind the plate when the coach could clearly see it from third base, but the game went on.

After a couple of innings went by, the Lady Mustangs started making a few mistakes, and the game went into desperate times for them.  The Lady Bears started getting some runs on the boards, and the Lady Mustang bats were icing up.   The game stayed close enough for either team to pull out the win with the Lady Bears in the lead in the 5th inning 4-7.  However, everything went south after that, and the Lady Bears defeated the Lady Mustangs 18-7.

Regular season is now over, and the CWVAC tournament begins on Monday evening at 5:30 as the Lady Mustangs host South Harrison.  This is a one loss and your season is over tournament, and the Lady Mustangs have to shake off the Summersville loss and get back on track.  Let’s go Lady Mustangs!
