The Lady Mustangs had no problem this past week with racking up a win, but the rain put a damper on another of their scheduled games, causing it to be cancelled.  None the less, the Lady Mustangs brought out the big sticks and a sack of great pitching against Walton.

Walton blew into town on a mission, and with a dugout that sounded more like a soccer fan club, they were fired up.  The Lady Mustangs were fired up as well and fought tooth and nail until the last pitch was thrown.  It was a great game as the Lady Mustangs held school on how to play softball. Laila Varney notched a mark on her gun belt by striking out six batters in two innings, allowing no runs and no hits. She also went 2-2 in batting and earned an RBI.

Gracie Woods went 2-2 in batting with one triple and drove in three runs. Chesney Boggs had a triple and three RBI’s. Ivy Taylor also laid out a triple and drove in two runs. Paris Williams relieved Varney in the third inning, and Walton got their bats fired up and made a last ditch effort to keep the game going extra innings. However, it was too little too late.

The Lady Mustangs defeated Walton in three innings by the score of 19-4.  The Ladies will be road trippin’ on a five game stretch and will not be back at home until April 17.  Hopefully this week will be a dry one and the games will get underway. Get out and enjoy a game.
