The Panther basketball team put on a defense and offense show at the MLK Tournament in Webster County this past Monday.

The tournament has teams play each other and a most valuable player from that game was chosen. The Panthers played just one game against Fayetteville, and it was a fast paced, high scoring game that the Panthers took to a new level.

They smoked the net in the first half, outscoring Fayetteville 47-31, and they didn’t slow down much after the break. They added another 39 points in the second half to win the game by the score of 86-66.  Four of the players went double digits, and leading the field was Thomas Haverty with 23 points, followed by Isacc Workman with 20. Nathan Canfield was on the boards with 14, and Hunter Jones had 12. It was a game that was an all Panther rout. They returned home against Calhoun County and got an easy win, Panthers 67, Red Devils 35. The wheels fell off later in the week against Roane, however, with the boys getting nudged out by the score of Panthers 66, Raiders 74. The Panthers will be at home for two games this week, with Friday being their homecoming game. It should be a good game against Webster; in their last meeting Webster took the win so it will be revenge night at CCHS.
