CCMS boys basketball team off to a good start

After one long month of practice, the boy’s of Clay County Middle School took the floor against the Spence Middle Yellow Jackets in a CWVAC meeting.
In the varsity game, the Mustangs outscored the Yellow Jackets 20-4 in the first half and never looked back for a 45-24 victory. Teamwork and hustle would be the key to victory in this game.  Ethan Burkhamer led the team in scoring with 10 points, while Colton Pritt added 9, Grant Krajeski 8, and Elijah Payton 7 points. Tanner Faulkner came off the bench and gave a quality effort scoring 7 points, while Caleb Atha played hardnosed defense and contributed 2 points.
The win gives the Mustangs a 1-0 record to begin the season. The next games will be at Richwood on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 7:30 p.m. and a double header on Thursday at Calhoun on Dec. 15 starting at 6 p.m..
Varsity team members are Caleb Atha, Colton Pritt, Grant Krajeski, Elijah Payton, Tanner Faulkner, Curtis Litton, Tyler Starcher, Ethan Burkhamer, and Nick Evans.  \Coaches are Shawn Krajeski, Allen Tanner, and Barry Payton.
After a slow first quarter, the junior varsity team outscored the Yellow Jackets 27-11 the rest of the game and came out victorious by a score of 28-13.  The Mustangs were led by the dynamic duo of Curtis Litton with 11 points and Matt Shelton with 9.
With the win the junior varsity starts the season at 1-0.  Their next game will be Thursday at Calhoun at 6 p.m.
Junior varsity team members are Caden Ramsey, Lucas Coleman, Jacob Morton, Levi Burnette, Ben Morton, Andrew Adkins, Brady Jones, Owen Bass, Josh Mance, Holt Dawson, Jack Haverty, Curtis Litton, Silas Burdette, and Matt Shelton.  Head junior varsity coach is Allen Tanner.
