Byrnes to compete for Toughest Woman title

Laura Byrnes from Elk River Boxing Club will compete for the title Toughest Woman in WV in the middleweight division this upcoming Saturday, Jan. 28, at the West Virginia Sports Promotion’s Clarksburg Toughman contest.

Her opponent, Samantha Pill from Clarksburg, has won two Toughman contests along with several other boxing matches.

Byrnes is the 2012 Beckley Toughman Champion and the 2012 Williamson Rough n Rowdy Champion. Also, she is 4-0 USA Boxing. She has been ranked second in the world by the IKF in full contact rules in kickboxing with a 6-4 kickboxing record. She fought K1 in New York City in March 2013 and has competed in two MMA fights in Pennsylvania.

Byrnes  has  been training  several hours every day for this competition and hopes to bring the title back to Elk River Boxing Club.
