Basketball on a roll

Gavin Nichols gets some air under the net.

Basketball was at its peak this week. The Panther basketball team, after a dusting by the Hoover Huskies, took that learning experience on the road and put a hurt on South Harrison by the score of 55-41. They got back on the bus on Saturday and had a barn burner at Wirt County squeezing by them 86- 84. The net was being burnt up by both teams as the game went back and forth, and in great basketball fashion, it went down to the final three seconds in the game but Wirt just couldn’t sink the bucket to tie the game.

Like most Panther games, you were on the edge of your seat till the final whistle. Lady Panther basketball was also in action against Calhoun and Wirt. After ending the hopes of Calhoun by the score of 58-26, the Lady Panthers came home Friday night to face the Wirt Lady Tigers. It was a massacre – McKinzee Barker was burning the ring with 17 points followed up closely by Emily Wynn with 13. All the Lady Panthers in this game put some points on their resume. Both teams will be at home this week once again playing back to back against Roane County starting at 5 o’clock, and it should be a good one.

All the Lady Panthers games will be at home for the next two weeks so there is no excuse for not getting to see them play. After Tuesday night the boys will have their show on the road so check your schedules for time and place. Also check you schedules for CCMS Mustang sports because there is not much left in their seasons. The boys have five games left and the girls have three before starting the conference championship. Come on out and support the teams!
