Ballot positions for the upcoming May election were officially drawn and decided upon this week. Candidates for Clay Sheriff, all Democrats, will appear in the following order: David Holcomb, Peter Triplett, Garrett Samples Jr.; County Commission incumbent Mike Pierson will be first on the ballot followed by Greg Fitzwater. With eight candidates running for the Board of Education and only three positions open, ballot position may play an important factor as the candidates will appear in the following order: Jim Ryan, Jason Triplett, Susan Bodkins, Dave Mullins, Jack Brown, Jim Perdue, Morgan Triplett and Cheryl White.
Look for the 2014 primary race to heat up as campaign signs have already started appearing along roadways and in yards. If you are not registered to vote, visit the County’s Clerk’s office to do so and let your voice be heard.
