A red flag displaying figures of children flew high on the flag pole in front of the courthouse in Clay County.  This flag shows six child-like figures, five are blue and one is red.  The red figure in an outline of a child who is no longer alive.  This flag is known as the Children’s Memorial Flag.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and the last Friday in April is set aside to remember those children lost to child abuse.  April is set aside to remind people that child abuse is happening, whether it is been seen by teachers, neighbors, friends, all it takes is one phone call to report it and save a child.

It is important to call your local Child Protective Services Agency with any concern for a child.  Children often do not speak up, so it is up to the ones in daily contact with them to protect them and be that voice. It could save a life.
