Betty Gill and her family, who nominated her as this year’s Festival Belle.

Betty Gill has been selected as the 2013 Golden Delicious Festival Belle.  Betty was born in 1945 in Swandale, West Virginia where she met and later married James Gill at the young age of 14.  James and Betty were married 52 years before James passed away with leukemia in 2012.  Together they raised five children: James Jr., Tammie, Tina, Kim and Michelle.  Betty worked most of her career as a Social Worker with the WV DHHR before retiring in 2004. Betty has faced many challenges throughout her life and has been a shining example of success to her family and the people around her.  For these reasons and many others, her family nominated her to be the 2013 Belle.   Betty will be officially crowned as the festival Belle on Friday, September 20th at noon.  All previous Belles, family and friends are invited to attend the ceremony and a reception, sponsored by Legacy Foods, which will be held in her honor at the Courthouse on Friday.
