Clay County students earn Fairmont honors

A Clay County student has been named to Fairmont State University’s president’s list and another has been named to the dean’s list.

Chelsie Cottrell (president’s list) and Michael Kiser (dean’s list) are among a total of 1,186 students honored for their academic achievement at Fairmont State University after completing the spring 2017 semester.

Christina Lavorata, provost and vice president for academic affairs, has released the dean’s list and the president’s list to recognize high-achieving students for their academic distinction. Full-time students who earned a 3.4 or better grade point average are named to the dean’s list. Full-time students achieving a perfect 4.0 grade point average are named to the president’s list.

Braxton County students on the president’s list are Makila Carr, Brooke Fincham, Emily McChesney, and Rebecca Pendry. Braxton Countians on the dean’s list are Derek Barnett, Cendall Cowan, Cori Cowan, Joseph Cowling, Brodie Currence, Destiny Richardson, and Jordan Utt.
