Clay County High School is hosting a showcase to display its Advanced Career (AC) Innovations in Science and Technology curriculum on Weds., Nov., 2. This leading-edge STEM- and project-based curriculumis designed to prepare students for college and careers in high-demand, high-wage fields critical to the local economy.
The Innovations in Science and Technology curriculum, along with seven others, was developed by the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) in collaboration with states and industry partners. The showcase is an excellent opportunity for chambers of commerce, business associations, employers and educators to learn more about the pathway programof study and mentoring opportunities.
Showcase attendees will visit the AC Innovations in Science and Technologyclassroom and see authentic project demonstrations; experience how the AC curriculum helps students become competitive in the marketplace, and learn whystate leaders are building a network of AC STEM pathway academies.
Students enrolled in the AC Innovations in Science and Technology program are excited to demonstrate what they are learning. The curriculum requires students to apply literacy, math and science skills and use software and technology to solve authentic problems found in the workplace. AC students learn to work in teams and use the seven-step engineering/technical design process to solve the real-world problems identified by industry partners that helped to develop the curriculum.
